At the end of July the Commission visited the London 2012 sailing facilities at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy. Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbour will host the Olympic and Paralympic Sailing competitions in 2012. The venue is a combination of the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy and the adjoining commercial marina. This was the first London 2012 venue to be completed and the enhancements that were made to the existing WPNSA facilities include a new permanent 250m slipway and new lifting and mooring facilities. The enhancements made at the WPNSA received a CEEQUAL, (Civil Engineering Environmental Quality Assessment and Award Scheme), Excellent award.
