Eleni Theodoraki

Dr. Eleni Theodoraki is Reader in Festival and Event Management at Edinburgh Napier University Business School. She is author of Olympic Event Organization (Amsterdam: Elsevier, 2007) and invited member of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games Impacts’ Expert Group. Previously she advised the London 2012 Olympic Games Bid Committee on Olympic education and was strategic planning consultant at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games Organising Committee.

Past commissioned/grant funded work was undertaken for Scottish Enterprise on the economic impacts of Commonwealth Games pre-games training camps, the Festivals City Theatre’s Trust, on its strategic development, East Potential on the impacts of the London Olympic Games preparations on social housing, the British Academy on sport development overseas and the International Olympic Committee on the role of women in management.

Her five PhD supervision completions are in the following sport and cultural events’ related topics: Festival images - Defining the brand relationships between the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and its primary stakeholders; The sporting impacts of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games preparations; Evolution of Modern Olympism and Olympic Values; An analysis of the organisational configurations over the life cycle of the Sydney organising committee for the Olympic Games; Olympic solidarity: global order and the diffusion of modern sport between 1961 to 1980.

Eleni was previously Lecturer in sport management at Loughborough University’s School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences and is now Visiting Academic at the University of LUMSA in Rome.
