In further developing the programme of leisure, culture and visitor management, the GLA, GOE and LDA [and now also the LLDC] should consider use of the experience and intellectual property generated by LOCOG.

An evaluation of the cultural programme is being conducted, which will gather lessons (including some sustainability lessons) that can be applied to future projects. In addition, much of the cultural programme in London was delivered through the GLA so the lessons can be applied to future events. DCMS and GLA are both looking into the lessons that can be learnt from LOCOG’s and the GLA’s volunteering programmes. The LLDC has been engaged with LOCOG around the activation of the Olympic Park and had people working on the Park during the Games to learn from LOCOG's operations. Complete

To date there is only ad-hoc and informal evidence of knowledge transfer. The main LOCOG knowledge transfer programme is geared to providing knowledge to the IOC and future Host Cities. We are concerned that without a clear programme for knowledge transfer within the UK, and with LOCOG disappearing shortly after the Games, there is a risk that this knowledge will be lost. A new recommendation was made about this in the Commission's Legay Review. The Commission is aware that LLDC has been engaging with LOCOG bilaterally on knowledge sharing. Progress Made

This is still early to assure. A Knowledge Transfer Programme is being developed to ensure key learning from LOCOG is captured. It is not yet clear how this will be utilised. The Commission has recommended that education initiatives such as the Get Set programme are taken forward in legacy and that all Government and GLA events mandate certification to BS8901.
