The total area of each type of habitat in the new BAP for the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park varies from the areas of habitat that were included in the BAP produced by the ODA but these are within the level of change that was agreed in the ODA BAP and most changes are increasing the level of habitat. Whilst the most significant increases are in parks, squares and amenity spaces and in species rich grasslands and the only significant decrease is in brownfield habitat, the proposals bring forward a wide variety of habitats. The Transformation Planning Application shows how the majority of this habitat will be provided, this has some variances from the Biodiversity Action Plan, which are intended to be addressed by the remaining habitat areas. The Commission is concerned that potential changes to the legacy plans for the park could means that not all the proposed habitats are developed as planned and expects the OPLC to set out how it will meet the commitments. The Commission would be very disappointed to see any further decreases in what might be considered the more natural habitats as it is these types of habitats that are particularly uncommon in the area.
