That as part of developing plans to address the sustainability implications of all elements of City Operations, the GLA set out and implement clear plans for how they will ensure the ecology of all Live Sites under their control is appropriately managed and monitored, with mitigation plans developed and implemented where necessary.

The GLA, in conjunction with the Royal Parks, set out criteria that Live Nation were expected to adhere to (such as from the ecological assessment included in the planning application) but the ecological management of the site and the subsequent restoration was left for Royal Parks to oversee as the site managers. We have previously been critical of the level of preparedness within the GLA City Operations team with regard to the sustainability implications of the areas they are managing. During 2011 we are pleased to say that there was significant progress made in this area, with dedicated resource being brought in from April 2011 to work through the issues and secure certification to BS 8901. Ecological studies have been carried out and plans produced for mitigation of ecological impacts. The Commission will continue to monitor this through Games-time to ensure any necessary plans are put into place. Progress Made

The plans for addressing the Sustainability implications of all elements of City Operations are still to be developed, although work has commenced on a plan to implement BS8901. The GLA have stated that they do not believe there is a risk to the sites they propose to use as Live Sites as these sites already host events. The Commission has expressed concern that the sites will be used for longer periods in Summer 2012 than is normal for these events and that this impact needs to be assessed. Significant Risk
