Recommendation
Future development in the Olympic Park, led by the OPLC [now LLDC], should follow the example of the Athletes Village for which there is a draft Food Strategy that can be implemented over time as the homes are occupied and if the community demonstrates an interest in growing their own food. This would ensure that the development is futureproofed and can enable food growing to be 'retrofitted'. This should also include facilities to make it easy for residents and businesses to access healthy and sustainable food.

Progress Made
The LLDC is in discussion with developers around food growing and opportunities in the public realm if communities have an interest in food. The Chobham Manor development is looking to utilise a plot of land in the construction stage for small scale food growing. Agriculture is a potential interim use in conjunction with a partner such as Hadlow College using it for training purposes. The LLDC also supports a growing links programme in the local community. This recommendation remains open at the end of the Commission as the LLDC takes forward the legacy of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and surrounding area. Progress Made
