That the London 2012 Sustainability Group should provide clear leadership over all aspects of sustainability (including health) and establish a mechanism to engage effectively with the SRO Group and Olympic Board.

The Commission expressed concerns during the programme about the extent to which healthy living was being given as much attention as other sustainability themes. The Sustainability Group provided a level of leadership over this issue and engaged with the SRO Group and Olympic Board as necessary on sustainability issues in general. Healthy Living was monitored and reported on in the London 2012 Sustainability report. Closed

The Commission is still not seeing the rapid progress that is needed to ensure coordinated action is taken on health legacy issues despite previous recommendations in the review of Inclusion and Healthy Living and progress is still looked for. The Commission remains concerned that despite the excellent preparatory work the NHS is doing to embed healthy living locally, effective healthy living legacy policy may be being constrained due the altered focus on policy priorities. As such, there is a risk that the wider healthy living legacy may drop off the strategic agenda. Significant Risk

We are concerned that the healthy living aspects of sustainability are suffering from a lack of strategic management and coordination. We have made three recommendations about co-ordinated action and management of healthy living and consider them all to be at significant risk of not being implemented. There is an increasing risk that the desired healthy living outcomes from the Games and into legacy will not occur, particularly with the radical reforms being undertaken within the health sector at this moment.
