Recommendation

The OPLC [now LLDC] should develop detailed design guidance for developers on how to incorporate food growing into their development plots, along the lines of the guidance developed for the South East False Creek in Vancouver, site of the 2010 Winter Games Athlete's Village. This could be applied more widely to other developments in London by the GLA.

Progress Made

The LLDC is in discussion with developers around food growing and opportunities in the public realm if communities have an interest in food. The Chobham Manor development is looking to utilise a plot of land in the construction stage for small scale food growing. Agriculture is a potential interim use in conjunction with a partner such as Hadlow College using it for training purposes. This recommendation remains open at the end of the Commission as the LLDC takes forward the legacy of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and surrounding area. Progress Made
